An earth tremor was felt in the late hours of Tuesday night in the northeastern part of the island, triggering panic among several citizens who felt it, a fact that was corroborated by the Geological Survey (USGS). According to preliminary data from the USGS, the quake had a magnitude of 4.9 on the Richter scale and was centered about 47 kilometers north of the island of Culebra. The depth was about 39 kilometers, which makes the effect of the waves feel wider. No tsunami warning is in effect for Puerto Rico. Residents across the island reported feeling the tremor movement in their homes.
