A Shocking Inside Look At The History Of Ted Cruz’s Past

LEAKED: The Story of Ted Cruz

A Shocking Inside Look At The History Of Ted Cruz’s Past

I don’t know about you, but there are times during the election season where I really fight feeling discouraged. Not only is the state of our nation in trouble, but it’s frustrating to feel like things are promised by politicians and then change never comes.

If I’m honest, I sometimes fight feeling like a cynic when I hear the rhetoric of candidates. But then something like this comes along and reminds me that we have some amazing leaders in our country. And even more promising is that a few of these leaders are running for the highest office in the land. Senator Ted Cruz is one such man.

From humble, beginnings as the son of an immigrant to arguing more cases on the floor of the Supreme Court than almost any other attorney in the United States. From raising his family to wanting to raise the standards for the children in America, Cruz has what it takes. Take a look at the inside story of Ted Cruz’s past that has just been leaked…
This is incredible and so inspiring. It’s good to remember that the only Savior that America needs is Jesus. BUT, that doesn’t mean that having leaders who are righteous and fight for freedom and justice doesn’t make a difference.

If our nation is going to turn around, we need to invite God back into the fabric of our nation and we need to elect leaders who represent the values that we hold to be true. Thank you Ted Cruz for standing up for freedom and for loving America well!

Rubio: If threatened, US must 'respond and defend Turkey'

Turkey Shoots Down Russian Fighter Jet near Syrian

Russian fighter jet shot down near Turkey-Syria border. Putin Reacts To Downed Jet: 'Stabbed In The Back By The Accomplices Of Terrorism' warns of 'significant consequences'. NATO member Turkey says it shot down a Russian warplane flying from Syria that violated its airspace. Video shows the fighter jet on fire before it crashes into mountains. Turkey says the plane ignored repeated warnings, but Moscow denies that. Charlie D'Agata reports on this new twist in the air war against ISIS.

Istanbul, Turkey (CNN)One of the world's most volatile regions was roiled further Tuesday when a Russian warplane went down near the Turkish-Syria border. Turkey said it "responded" to a plane after the aircraft repeatedly violated its airspace and ignored several warnings.

NATO has called an extraordinary meeting later Tuesday to discuss the incident, a NATO official told CNN.

Turkey's semi-official Anadolu news agency quoted Turkish presidential sources in reporting that the Russian Su-24 was "hit within the framework of engagement rules" in Syria's Bayirbucak area, near the border with Turkey.

But Russia's state-run Sputnik news agency said that, "According to preliminary reports, the plane was gunned down from the ground."
Russian officials denied that the plane had violated Turkish airspace. Both pilots ejected from the plane, but their fate is unknown, Sputnik said.

Turkey released a purported image of the flight path of the plane showing that it had violated Turkish airspace. Turkey said it issued 10 warnings to the aircraft before responding "within engagement rules" near the Turkey-Syria border.

But the Russian Defense Ministry said "objective monitoring confirmed" the plane was not in Turkish airspace.
"The Su-24 bomber jet was in Syrian airspace at the altitude 6,000 meters, the Russian Defense Ministry said," according to Sputnik. "The pilots were reportedly able to parachute out of the jet before it crashed."

A U.S. defense official told CNN Turkey informed Washington that it had shot down a Russian military aircraft near the Syrian border after an airspace violation. U.S. forces were not involved in the incident, the official added.

Syria has been embroiled for four and a half years in a brutal civil war that has killed hundreds thousands of people, sent millions fleeing, and laid waste to entire cities.

Turkey vehemently opposes the Syrian regime of Bashar al-Assad. Russia is propping up the Assad regime.

Skirmishes between Turks and Syrians have taken place in the past, with Turkish officials accusing Syrian planes of violating Turkish air space.

Can i please shoot the bastards?

Counterterrorism Expert: 'Don't Wait for Uncle Sam to Protect You'

On "The Kelly File" tonight, FBI counterterrorism expert Dr. Sebastian Gorka urged Americans to be on heightened alert at all times in the wake of the Paris terror attacks.

"Don't wait for Uncle Sam to protect you. Every American has a duty and responsibility to be aware of the threat and be prepared to protect themselves," Gorka said.

He suggested that if you live in a state or municipality that allows you to carry a weapon, you should get training and do so.

Gorka said that he believes there are already active sleeper cells in the U.S.

He pointed out that FBI director James Comey has said that there are up to 900 ISIS-related investigations, in all 50 states.

Gorka added that the successful Paris attacks will be an encouragement for radical Islamists in the U.S.

"The jihad is real, the jihad is global and they want to bring it to the shores of America."

Full address from Speaker Paul Ryan after being elected the 54th Speaker of the House.

Rep. Paul Ryan has officially been elected as the 54th speaker of the House after he got the votes of 236 members by the full House of Representatives. The vote was largely a formality after House Republicans nominated him for the position on Wednesday.

Paul Davis Ryan (born January 29, 1970) is the 62nd and current Speaker of the United States House of Representatives. Ryan is a member of the Republican Party who has served as the U.S. Representative for Wisconsin's 1st congressional district since 1999 and as House Ways and Means Committee Chairman since January 2015. Ryan previously served as Chairman of the House Budget Committee from 2011 to 2015. He was the Republican Party nominee for Vice President of the United States, running alongside Governor Mitt Romney in the 2012 election. Ryan, together with Democratic Senator Patty Murray, negotiated the Bipartisan Budget Act of 2013, the first time since 1986 that Congress reached a budget agreement while separate parties controlled the chambers.

Time for Truth - Ted Cruz Anthem

People in the room moved towards Ted Cruz in the 3rd Republican Debate - October 28, 2015

Frank Luntz says he’s never seen a line score as high as the answer Ted Cruz gave when he called out the CNBC moderators for their liberal bias. Not only did it score high, but several people in the room moved towards Ted Cruz because of it, with one former Ben Carson supporter saying that now Ted Cruz is her guy.

Ted Cruz is likely to Win ...Keep it up Ted !!!!

Marco Rubio and Ted Cruz

About a month ago, conservative commentator Erick Erickson wrote a post at Redstate headlined, "Ted Cruz vs. Marco Rubio: This Is Where We Are Headed." Erickson predicted that, eventually, "the more conservative elements" of the party would fall behind Cruz, while "the more establishment elements" would opt for Rubio. It was a bold statement, considering that both candidates were stuck in the single digits in the polls.

After Wednesday night's third Republican debate, it's much easier to see how it could happen.

Rubio swatted away an attack by his main rival for establishment support, Jeb Bush, leaving the brother and son to former presidents looking petty and small. Not long afterward, Cruz opened fire on the debate moderators, winning wild applause from the crowd and praise from conservatives online.

Lately, Bush has seen Rubio as his biggest threat. So after Rubio responded to a question from a moderator about the number of Senate votes he's been missing, Jeb tried to take him on. "Just resign and let somebody else take the job," he suggested.

Rubio's response was devastating. He started by pointing out that John McCain missed a huge amount of votes during his 2007-'08 presidential campaign, and Bush didn't seem to mind. "I don't remember you ever complaining about John McCain's vote record," he said. "The only reason you're doing it now is because we're running for the same position. Someone convinced you attacking me is going to help you."

Throughout the night, both gave crisp, clear, and rhetorically impressive answers, far outshining the other candidates on stage. The consensus in the vast majority of the political media — conservative, liberal, and nonpartisan — was that Cruz and Rubio won.

Cruz scorched the moderators

Later on, it was Ted Cruz's turn to shine — and he did it with the vintage Newt Gingrich 2012 move of attacking the debate moderators.

"The questions that have been asked so far in this debate illustrate why the American people don't trust the media," he said. "This is not a cage match. You look at the questions — Donald Trump, are you a comic book villain? Ben Carson, can you do math? John Kasich, will you insult two people over here? Marco Rubio, why don't you resign? Jeb Bush, why have your numbers fallen? How about talking about the substantive issues?"

It was a "moment" of the sort Cruz lacked in the first two debates. The audience applauded wildly — he was saying exactly what many conservatives across the country were thinking. And GOP pollster Frank Luntz's focus group loved it:

Stylistically, Cruz performed strongly for the rest of the debate too — he didn't seem too angry, and even cracked a few jokes.

"FACT: Ted Cruz is running the best campaign of any presidential candidate," the Washington Post's Chris Cillizza wrote this week. "If I had to put money on a delegate leader coming out of Super Tuesday, it would be Cruz," RealClearPolitics' Sean Trende tweeted. And some other commentators who once affirmatively proclaimed that Cruz couldn't win — because he was too despised by party elites — are now less sure.

While watching this debate, though, it was easy to imagine both Cruz and Rubio rising above everyone else — and battling it out for the nomination in the end.

20 Best Quotes From Ted Cruz

Ted Cruz is the living embodiment of what a conservative Republican in Congress is supposed to be. While the Republican leadership was bowing to Obama, breaking campaign promises and attacking its own supporters, Ted Cruz was at the point of the spear, fighting for the American people. Cruz is intelligent, eloquent and he has proven over and over again that he’s willing to stand up, speak out and fight back. There are several good candidates running for President, but if you’re looking for a strong, smart outsider who’s proven to be consistently conservative and willing to fight, you can’t do any better than Ted Cruz. After you read these quotes, you’ll see why that’s true.

1) “I think it's an enormous blessing to be the child of an immigrant who fled oppression, because you realize how fragile liberty is and how easily it can be taken away.”

2) “You want to lose elections, stand for nothing. …And then of course, all of us remember President Dole and President McCain and President Romney. Now look, those are good men. They’re decent men, but when you don’t stand and draw a clear distinction; when you don’t stand for principle, Democrats celebrate.”

3) “I can tell you when you sit down and talk with a New York billionaire Republican donor — and I have talked with quite a few New York billionaire Republican donors, California Republican donors, their questions start out as follows. First of all, you’ve got to come out for gay marriage, you need to be pro-choice, and you need to support amnesty. That’s where the Republican donors are. You wonder why Republicans won’t fight on any of these issues? Because the people writing the checks agree with the Democrats.”

4) “We saw the ugly face of radical Islam in Garland, Texas. Thankfully, one police officer helped those terrorists meet their virgins.”

5) “Our national debt exceeds the size of our entire economy, threatening future generations. And, in the face of these grave economic challenges, Washington, DC, is agonizing over a 2.4 percent cut. We need to cut a lot more than 2.4 percent.”

6) “No man who doesn't begin every day on his knees is fit to stand in the Oval Office.”

7) “One more liberal justice and our right to keep and bear arms is taken away from us by an activist court. One more liberal justice and they begin sandblasting and bulldozing veterans’ memorials throughout this country. One more liberal justice and we lose our sovereignty to the United Nations and the World Court.”

8) ”I think President Obama is the most radical president this nation’s ever seen … And in particular, I think he is a true believer in government control of the economy and of our everyday lives. In my judgment, we are facing what I consider to be the epic battle of our generation, quite literally the battle over whether we remain a free market nation.”

9) “I will say standing here after 14 hours, standing on your feet, there's sometimes some pain, sometimes some fatigue that is involved, but you know what? There's far more pain involved in rolling over... far more pain in hiding in the shadows, far more pain in not standing for principle, not standing for the good, not standing for integrity.” – Cruz during his filibuster against Obamacare

10) “The greatest trick the Left has ever played is to convince conservatives that we cannot win.”

11) “If standing for liberty and standing for the Constitution make you a wacko bird, then you can count me a very proud wacko bird.” – Cruz responds to John McCain calling him a “wacko bird

12) “It is beyond dispute that when the 14th Amendment was adopted 146 years ago, as a necessary post-Civil War era reform, it was not imagined to also mandate same-sex marriage, but that is what the Supreme Court is implying today. The Court is making the preposterous assumption that the People of the United States somehow silently redefined marriage in 1868 when they ratified the 14th Amendment.”

13) “It’s interesting that in the Washington lexicon it’s somehow treated as being unpleasant or being a trouble maker to try to honor the commitments you have made to your constituents, and to urge your colleagues to do the same. What’s considered unpleasant in the Senate is not lack of civility – you can insult the heck out of each other although I don’t engage in that. What’s considered unpardonable is actually speaking the truth and doing what you said you would do and even worse making clear, shining the light on the fact that there are a whole lot of other people willing to do exactly the opposite of what they said they would do. That’s treated as the unpardonable sin, how dare you be so selfish – and it’s funny they use the term selfish – as to actually honor the commitments to your constituents. That’s not playing the rules of the game. Well, you know what the rules of the game have resulted in bankrupting our kids and grandkids and seeing our constitutional liberties eroded. Enough is enough.”

14) “Regardless, let me suggest a simple rule. Don’t give weapons to people who hate us. Don’t give weapons to people who want to kill us.”

15) “If you are a Conservative, you shouldn’t have to tell anybody. If you really are a Conservative, you will have been walking the walk, you will bear the stripes, and your actions will speak louder than words.”

16) “One of biggest lies in politics is the lie that Republicans are the party of big business. Big business does great with big government. Big business is very happy to climb in bed with big government. Republicans are and should be the party of small business and of entrepreneurs.”

17) “They said, ‘Listen, before you did this, the politics of it were great: The Dems were the bad guys, the Republicans were the good guys. Now we all look like a bunch of squishes. Well, there is an alternative: You can just not be a bunch of squishes.” — Cruz on a private meeting with other Republican senators

18) “I am saddened to see that some here, not everyone, but some here, are so consumed with hate… If you will not stand with Israel and the Jews, then I will not stand with you.” – Cruz before walking off the stage after being booed by a Middle Eastern group for supporting Israel

19) "Fifty-five years ago, when my dad was a penniless teenager, thank God some well-meaning bureaucrat didn’t put his arm around him and say ‘let me take care of you.’"

20) “Part of what’s so problematic with Washington is how many Republicans want a show vote to pretend to their constituents they’re fighting for what they say they’re fighting for, rather than actually fighting for it and actually winning. In both parties, you’ve got entrenched politicians who have barely veiled contempt for the American people. They think their voters are gullible rubes – and you give them a little ‘show vote,’ you tell them, ‘Hey, I’m totally with you,’ then they go to Washington and they don’t actually do what they say.”

The Complete 3rd GOP Presidential Debate - Oct 28, 2015

The CNBC panel were ruthless and sounded and acted as though they despised the candidates and were their enemies!!! Pretty weird and peculiar, if you ask me .... Aren't they supposed to be neutral and fair? And why are they asking so many personal questions - isn't it supposed to be about how the candidates would handle different problems to do with the economy, jobs, national security, etc.?!! This video includes Donald Trump interview afterward.

Rafael Cruz at the Southern Republican Leadership Conference

The third Republican presidential debate October 28, 2015

The third Republican presidential debate — titled “Your Money, Your Vote” — will be Wednesday, Oct. 28, live from the Coors Events Center at the University of Colorado in Boulder, which is used to hosting 11,000 fans for University of Colorado basketball games. The debate will begin at 8 p.m. Eastern Time.

SC deputy who tossed student in video has been fired

The South Carolina sheriff's deputy seen in a viral video flipping a female student out of her desk in a classroom has been fired from his job, authorities said on Wednesday.

Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott said at a press conference that Senior Deputy Ben Fields was terminated after it was determined by the office that the action he used to remove the student from did not follow proper procedure.

The student was being disruptive and refused to leave the classroom despite being told by a teacher and administrator to do so, Lott said, and that's when Fields was brought in Monday at about 11 a.m. to remove her. She again refused, and Fields told her she was under arrest, Lott said.

She continued to refuse, and at that point the video shows the deputy flipping the teen backward and then throwing her across the room. At that point, Lott said, Fields did not use proper procedure.

"I can tell you what he should not have done: He should not have thrown that student," Lott said during a news conference.

The agency's training unit looked at video of the incident and determined Fields did not follow proper training and procedure, the sheriff said.

Calls for Fields to be fired began mounting almost immediately after the video surfaced, and the FBI began a civil rights investigation at Lott's request. The confrontation was captured on cellphones by students, one of whom said it all started when the girl pulled out her cellphone and refused her math teacher's attempt to take it away during class.

"This incident started with a very disruptive student in class. This student was not allowing the teacher to teach  and not allowing the students to learn. She was very disruptive, disrespectful and she started this whole incident with her actions," Lott said.

Rep. Susan Brooks Confronts HIllary Clinton with Stack of Emails

Hillary Clinton Opening Statement Benghazi Committee Hearing 10/22/2015

She has a lot of nerve, I'm speechless.
You won't be leaving a legacy behind Killary, that's for sure!

Trey Gowdy gave his opening statement at today's Benghazi hearing

"This investigation is ... about the fundamental obligation of government to tell the truth always to the people that it purports to represent."

Hillary Clinton Gets Ripped by Rep. Jim Jordan at Benghazi Hearing

Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) relentlessly questioned former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton on Thursday over why she and other administration officials initially blamed a YouTube video for the Benghazi terror attacks, a claim contrary to available intelligence at the time.

Pay Attention to Hillary Clinton’s Body Language

“Your experts knew the truth, your spokesperson knew the truth, Greg Hicks knew the truth,” Jordan said during a House Benghazi Committee hearing. “But what troubles me more is I think you knew the truth.”

Jordan accused Clinton of telling the president of Libya, Egyptian prime minister and even family members that terrorists were behind the attack, but later suggested an anti-Muslim video sparked the attack.

“The American people want to know why,” Jordan added.

“If you look at the statement that I made, I clearly said it was an attack,” Clinton replied.

“Calling it an attack is like saying the sky is blue — of course it was an attack,” Jordan shot back.

At one point, Clinton looked visibly annoyed by Jordan’s line of questioning.

Clinton claimed there was a lot of “conflicting information” and later said part of the reason she spoke about the video was to alert other countries of the potential threat.

Its the guts and its the glory, a hundred stripes a hundred stories
It's the pledge of Allegiance on the 4th of July
Its the handwritten letters from home,
its the sleepless nights alone
It's his newborn baby he left with his wife.

Recent court victory gives Puerto Rico the ability to open carry and concealed carry without a permit

According to the Second Amendment Foundation, a recent court victory gives Puerto Rico residents the ability to open carry and concealed carry without a permit. The ruling in the class action lawsuit has apparently blown everyone’s expectations out of the water. The lawsuit challenged Puerto Rico’s gun laws, some of which the court ruled unconstitutional. As of now, it seems that no regulations are in place to stop anyone on the island from carrying a firearm, permit or not. In addition, the ruling abolished the territory’s gun registry, as well as the need to obtain a permit to purchase a firearm. Read the full news story below from SAF . . .

BELLEVUE, WA – A surprising victory for gun rights in Puerto Rico has eliminated the firearms registry and licensing requirements to purchase and carry in the Commonwealth, the Second Amendment Foundation has confirmed.

As of now, according to Sandra Barreras with Ladies of the Second Amendment (LSA), the group that brought the lawsuit, “there is no regulation to purchase or carry (and) all purchases will be handled in accordance with federal firearms regulations.”LSA is affiliated with SAF through the International Association for the Protection of Civilian Arms Rights (IAPCAR).

The class-action lawsuit challenged various articles in Puerto Rico’s gun law, which the court declared unconstitutional. Because of the ruling, Barreras said, Puerto Ricans may now carry openly or concealed without a permit, and they do not need to obtain a permit before purchasing a firearm.

This was a class action lawsuit involving more than 850 individual plaintiffs, she reported to SAF offices. The news was greeted with delight, especially because in reaching its decision, the court cited the Heller and McDonald Supreme Court cases, and the recent ruling in Palmer v. District of Columbia. Both the McDonald and Palmer cases were won by SAF.

“Cumbersome firearms regulations have never prevented criminals from getting their hands on guns,” noted SAF founder and Executive Vice President Alan M. Gottlieb. “They have only inconvenienced law-abiding citizens, or deprived them outright from exercising their rights under the Second Amendment.”

Gottlieb said the lawsuit was brought in a Puerto Rican Commonwealth court, rather than a federal court. Puerto Rico is a U.S. territory and thus is subject to federal court jurisdiction.

“This case turned out better than anyone had really anticipated,” he commented. “We’re very pleased to have played an advisory role in this case, and if there is a government appeal, we’ll definitely be there with whatever support we can provide to our good friends in Puerto Rico.”

Band Puts PTSD Awareness In Your Face

There are many people out there trying to raise awareness of Veteran Suicide and PTSD. I am one of them. Not many however do what needs to be done and cross the line to give you the SHOCK FACTOR that is needed. Sometimes it just has to be in your face, gritty, shocking and over the top before people will pay attention.

FFDP has taken a step in the right direction with this video. I know a boat load of keyboard commandos out there are going to get their panties in a bunch and be uber butt hurt over this. I don’t really care. The song is still BAD ASS and the video is AMAZING! GREAT JOB FFDP!

This Memorial day, Thank a Veteran. Take of your damn hat and stand for the National Anthem. Show some damn respect. 22 Veterans commit suicide everyday. 22. Way to many.

Message to ISIS, ISIL, or Whoever You’re Calling Yourself this Week!

Message to ISIS, ISIL, or Whoever You’re Calling Yourself this Week!

I’ve been hearing all this talk for days now about these communist bastards threatening to seek out American Veterans and kill them. Well, I have finally snapped! I don’t know why, but that seems to be the main topic with the talking heads on the news this morning and it has put me over the edge!

My name is Camilo Andrade, I don’t write under an alias like many do, this is me! I live in Virginia and a little homework will bring you right to my front door. If you’re too damn stupid to find me from that in this information age, you don’t concern me, you’re obviously an idiot and will eventually end up turning yourself into shrapnel and spread across the desert somewhere. Moron!

Let me tell you about your prize. I am a United States Marine Corps Sergeant and a retired Federal Law Enforcement Officer. I have a butt load of health problems, a prosthetic hip and another that needs repaired. I don’t move as fast as I used to, or I would come hunt your chicken sh*t ass down instead of inviting you to come after me.

Make no mistake about it though, I am still quite capable of defending myself and would much prefer you give me the opportunity to rip the jugular vein out of your throat with my new set of dentures instead of forcing me to shoot your silly ass.

You have threatened the wrong group of people and picked a fight with an adversary you are just not prepared to deal with. I don’t know a single veteran in this country that is afraid of you and your empty threats! We are not like the fools you are used to fighting. We do not beat our women and strap bombs to our children. We stand toe-to-toe with our enemies and look them in the eye as we drain the life from them! Before I send you to meet your maker in hell, you should know all that stuff about 72 virgins you’ve been promised, it’s BULL SH*T! I’m certain of it, the Marines have been in the Middle East for years now and we freely roam the streets of Paradise and scare the hell out of Satan… There is NO WAY the Marines have left any virgins… Definitely not 72 of them…

So, either come after me, or STFU! Your best bet, if you want to see tomorrow, would be to take your ass home and get all your friends to start Tweeting apologies and lay down your arms. American Veterans are NOT afraid of you and our active duty brethren, well… Eventually their boots will hit the ground and when they do… Your family tree is going to be missing some limbs!

Just A Common Soldier - In Honor of Memorial Day 2015

We Americans are blessed to live in the greatest country on earth, where we are able to enjoy freedoms that most can only dream of. But that freedom comes at a terribly high price—something we all need to be reminded of on Memorial Day.

This holiday, while you gather with family and friends at picnics, barbeques, and pool parties, please pause to reflect on the brave men and women who gave their lives protecting our country and be sure to thank their surviving family members, for they have sacrificed greatly as well.

Just A Common Soldier, also known as A Soldier Died Today, is one of the most popular poems on the Internet. Written and published in 1987 by Canadian veteran and columnist A. Lawrence Vaincourt, it now appears in numerous anthologies, on thousands of websites and on July 4, 2008 it was carved into a marble.

A Marine Just Stood Up To ISIS In The Most EPIC Way, Every American Needs To See This

A Marine in Texas started a patriotic movement in response to a recent shooting by Islamist radicals that left an officer wounded and two terrorists dead. His community just reminded terrorists why you don’t mess with Texas. This is so inspiring!

Senior asked to take down American flag, school responds

A high school in York County has spoken out after students protested Thursday morning when a senior said he was asked to remove an American flag from his pick-up truck.

Thursday morning, several students, parents, and veterans protested the incident, many setting up across from school grounds waving flags. "When I hear that you can't fly the American flag it makes my blood run red, and my blood is red," said Vietnam Veteran Michael Douglas.

Just before noon Thursday, officials at York Comprehensive High School said Peyton Robinson and other students could keep the U.S. flag on his vehicle as long as no driving hazard exists. Parents who were part of the demonstration called the decision a win. "We're just glad we got this victory today, and it just proves if you stand up for your country, you stand up for what you believe in, things get changed," said James Crump. "We fought for it, I fought for it," said Patriot Guard rider Mark Ludwig.

"Due to the outstanding display of patriotism through peaceful demonstration, it is apparent to us that many are not happy about this policy," the school district posted on its website. "School officials have reviewed the standing policy regarding flags and have decided that an exception will be made for the American flag, as long as the size of the flag(s) does not create a driving hazard." "We appreciate the passion and pride of all who have called or come by YCHS over the past 24 hours.

America was founded by Patriots who led positive change in a myriad of ways," the district continued. "We believe today is a great example of peaceful demonstration leading to positive change. This is the very process we advocate in our Social Studies classrooms and the fabric of American citizenship.

Thank you for helping us as we educate the students of our community." Crump said he felt the district's move was a good start for a middle ground. School leaders have not defined what size flag might make for a 'driving hazard.' "Now if the school wants to let them display their flag a certain size, we need to, as parents and students, agree to stay within that limit, you know, boundary," Crump said. Initially, school district officials told students they couldn't have any physical flags on their cars because of safety.

Administrators said it was a pre-existing policy that was announced again Wednesday. The school leaders called it a safety concern. "Anytime you get a flag of any kind flying, it creates a visual distraction," said York Comprehensive High School Principal Christopher Black. "Just proud to be an American," 18-year-old Robinson told WBTV Wednesday night. Robinson said a school administrator told him remove the American flag and the POW-MIA flag, which he has in the back of his truck.

"He said we're having some issues. Some people were complaining about the flags in your truck, possibly offend them. He asked me to take it down," Robinson said. The high school senior, who has several family members who served in the armed forces, was upset because he didn't see the problem.

"I'd understand if it was the Confederate flag or something that might offend somebody," Robinson said. "I wouldn't do that. But an American flag - that's our country's flag. I have every right to do it. I don't see a safety issue.

I mean I understand it's a big flag - it's 4 by 6 - but nobody has ever complained about it being in their way or anything." According to Robinson, a school administrator told him to remove the flags when he got home, and not come back to school with them.

But the 18-year-old said before the school day was over on Wednesday, a school official went to Robinson's parked truck, removed the bolts that secured the flags to the truck, took the flags down, and "laid my flags down in the middle of my truck when I wasn't even there."

Robinson was angry.

"I was pretty mad," he said. "I don't see how it's a problem. Nobody has ever complained about it before." The senior took to social media and posted about the incident on his Facebook page. Fellow students vowed to stand with Robinson, flying flags on their cars when they arrived at school Thursday morning. Despite being initially told he was not to come to school again with flags flying on his pick-up, Robinson says he plans to do what he's done for the past month - display his flags. He called Thursday a victory, and added that he's glad others stood behind him, and more importantly that he can show his true colors. "I'm really surprised all these people showed up and I'm really appreciative of all the support from everybody, I had no idea it would get this big," Robinson said.

Like Father, Like Son: The Man Ted Cruz Calls 'Hero'

WASHINGTON -- During a time in our society when the family is often under attack, it's refreshing when someone like Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, calls his father, Rafael, his hero. They both have a lot in common. Sen. Cruz's presidential campaign is marked by his signature fiery rhetoric.

Could it be that he gets that passionate streak from his 76-year-old father?

This seems to be a classic "like father, like son" scenario: two generations of passionate Christians who overcame huge odds, with the son - an almost unknown candidate - becoming a U.S. senator, thanks in part to a father who had it even tougher.

Has 18-Year-Old Kai Kloepfer Created The World’s Safest Gun?

Kai is currently developing an advanced fingerprint sensor that’s outfitted on the grip of a gun. When you pick up the gun, it scans the user’s fingerprint and if it’s a match with the gun owner’s, the user is free to fire. If the fingerprint does not match, the trigger locks.

The sensor is designed to prevent children from picking up a misplaced weapon and discharging it — a problem that’s unfortunately far too common today — but it could also help to reduce the number of shootings that take place via illegally obtained firearms.

Kloepfer is entirely self-taught, having studied engineering on the internet and from simply taking things apart and rebuilding them. In fact, this project started as a high school science project. But thanks to infinite curiosity, sheer determination and a willingness to explore, Kloepfer may be able to pull off something no one has quite yet perfected.

Al Shabaab militants attack Somali government building

(Reuters) - Al Shabaab Islamist militants attacked a government building housing two ministries in the Somali capital on Tuesday, setting off two big blasts before gunmen stormed inside, killing at least 10 people, police and the rebels said.

Fighting had raged around the building, which houses the ministries for higher education and petroleum and minerals, before security forces retook it from the attackers.

It is the latest in a series of raids in Mogadishu by al Shabaab, which wants to topple Somalia's Western-backed government and impose its own strict version of Islamic law.

The group also attacked a university campus in neighboring Kenya this month, killing 148 people.

"First two blasts occurred, a bike blast and a car blast, outside the building, then armed fighters stormed in," Major Ali Nur, a police officer, told Reuters.

About an hour and a half after the explosions, police said they had secured the building.

Al Shabaab's military operations spokesman Sheikh Abdiasis Abu confirmed that the group was behind the attack.

Government spokesman Ridwaan Haji said on his official Twitter account that 10 people had been killed in the attack, including two soldiers and eight civilians. He said seven militants had also been killed.

Abdikadir Abdirahman, director of Mogadishu ambulances, told Reuters at least 15 civilians had been killed and 20 others injured. He did not give details of any soldiers or militants killed.

Police Colonel Hussein Ibrahim said one of the soldiers was with the African Union peacekeeping force, which has led a military campaign against al Shabaab with Somali troops and also guards major government buildings and installations.

"Now the fighting is over and the building is secured," Ibrahim said.

The government spokesman could not immediately confirm the death of the AU soldier.

GUNFIRE

Trader Omar Mohamed, who works near the scene, said he was thrown off his chair by the blasts. He said attackers sprayed gunfire at security forces during their battle to retake the building.

Al Shabaab, which once ruled much of Somalia, lost control of Mogadishu in 2011 and has been driven out of remaining major strongholds in a joint AU-Somalia military offensive launched last year.

Despite losing swathes of territory, the group has repeatedly shown it can strike Somali targets and also across the border into Kenya.

Earlier this month, al Shabaab fighters attacked a university campus in the Kenyan town of Garissa, which lies about 200 km (120 miles) from the border, killing 148 people. The group has said it wants to punish Kenya for sending troops to Somalia as part of the AU force.

At the end of March, al Shabaab militants attacked a hotel in the Somali capital, killing 14.

Southern Syria rebels set on collision course with al Qaeda

(Reuters) - Western-backed fighters in southwestern Syria, the one part of the country where they are still strong, have spoken out against al Qaeda, a move could lead to fighting among of President Bashar al-Assad.

The most powerful opponents of Assad in Syria's civil war are Sunni Muslim jihadists from two groups: the Islamic State, also known as ISIL or ISIS, and al Qaeda's Syria branch, the Nusra Front. Western and Arab countries which oppose both Assad and the jihadists aim to support what Washington calls "moderate" rebels.

Although such Western-backed fighters control comparatively little territory, an alliance known as the Southern Front has an important foothold near the borders with Jordan and Israel. It has seized a border crossing and a government-held town in recent weeks after weathering a government offensive.

Nusra, which has crushed pro-Western rebels in the north, is also active in the south and has sometimes joined Southern Front groups in battle against government forces, making their relationship ambiguous.

But this week, Southern Front groups issued a strong statement condemning Nusra's ideology, rejecting any cooperation with it, and declaring themselves the "sole military force representing the Syrian revolution" in the south.

"It is not a call for war but they will understand it that way, and if they want to fight they will be the losers," said Abu Ghiath al-Shami, spokesman for the Alwiyat Seif al-Sham, one of the Southern Front groups.

With aid funneled via U.S. ally Jordan, the Southern Front groups are stronger than the jihadists in the south, according to several assessments including one provided by a U.S. intelligence official.

"We must announce our clear position: neither the Nusra Front or anything else with this ideology represents us," said Bashar al-Zoubi, head of a rebel group called the Yarmouk Army.

"We can’t go from the rule of Assad to Zawahiri and Nusra," said Zoubi referring to the al Qaeda leader Ayman al-Zawahiri.

Aboul Majd al-Zoubi, head of a Southern Front-linked Syrian Media Organisation, said the aim is to isolate Nusra. "The door is open for Nusra Front fighters to defect and to join the factions of the Southern Front," he said.

The statement appears to have been prompted by incidents including an attempt by Nusra to arrest a Southern Front commander, and tension between the sides at the Nasib crossing with Jordan. The crossing was seized from the government on April 1, with both the Southern Front and Nusra claiming to have played the decisive role in taking it.

Islamic State currently has little presence in the south but may be eyeing expansion there. Its fighters staged an assault on an air base in Sweida province in recent days, part of a pattern of attacks beyond its eastern strongholds, which was repelled by the Syrian army.

Bashar al Zoubi said that attack was an attempt by Islamic State to announce its arrival in the area, and that more international support for the Southern Front was needed to help stave off the jihadist threat.

"Marco Rubio has a certain fluency, and ability to connect with voters, and this will be one of the first times a wider audience has seen it. When people who haven't seen Marco speak finally see Marco speak, they stand back and say, 'Whoa — what have I been missing?'" said Wilson.
