Boston bombing just the beginning of homegrown terror threats

There is a battle of funny headlines playing out across America.
According to the Wall Street Journal, "Suspects Roused by Jihadist Thought."
Surprisingly, the New York Times headline is "Boston Suspect Cites Islamic Extremist Beliefs as Motive"

The Washington Post, of course, has to take all the religion out of it and blame America."Boston bombing suspect cites U.S. wars as motivation, officials say," reads the Washington Post headline.

Credit where it is due, the Washington Post does a masterful job of blaming America. "[T]he evidence so far suggests they were “self-radicalized” through Internet sites and U.S. actions in the Muslim world." The Internet and American actions did it.
Time magazine is already exploring whether boxing might have had something to do with it.
It is amazing that within a one week period the media went from speculating that right wingers were celebrating Hitler's birthday on tax day to blaming Chechen nationalism to hearing the bomber say he was inspired by Islam to announcing it's not him, it's us to blame.
Had it been a tea partier who launched a terror attack at the Boston Marathon, the media would spend weeks blaming Republicans, conservatives, talk radio rhetoric, and Fox News hosts for inspiring the bombing.

But because the bomber himself says he was inspired by his religious faith and that faith happens to be Islam, the media will ascribe other reasons to explain the attack that are more palatable to the its liberal sensibilities. As often happens in these cases, the media quickly descends into blaming America first.

One of the most insane pieces of the whole past week was from Marc Ambinder, a respected journalist, who explicitly says we should blame America, not Islam, for the bombers.
So stuck in a liberal world view blinding him to reality, along with most of the press corps in America, he can't see to the actual nugget of truth he's trying to grasp for — liberalism.
Let us be very clear here. In the past decade we have seen that not all Muslims are terrorists, but just about every terrorist has been a Muslim.

As more young Muslim men come of age in a post-modern America, the problem of home grown terrorism is going to be far worse than the terrorism we've previously seen. We see this shaping up in Great Britain.

There, the culture has given up on assimilation. It is more and more considered bigotry to think that there might be some quintessentially English characteristics, values, and manners all must embrace. Instead, people can live on the fringe of society without ever having to assimilate.
People, with a natural longing for common culture, concentrate among those most like them. Young Muslim men concentrate with other young Muslim men. In the culture vacuum, they embrace a powerful intoxicant of self-sacrifice for the cause of radical Islam.

The British welfare state allows these young Muslim men to sit on the sidelines as second class citizens, alienated from common British society, without any need to assimilate into British society. It is an inoffensive multiculturalism rotting common culture.

This is beginning to happen here.  The melting pot has instead become a pressure cooker.
The Tsarnaev brothers lived in Massachusetts, a state where if Bob wants to be known as Sheila in the public schools, the other kids will get punished for calling Bob . . . well . . . Bob.
Liberalism infests society. The Tsarnaev brothers, like so many immigrants, were not required to assimilate into American society. They were left to do it to the degree they wished on their own as all other immigrants are today. Granted, the younger of the two men was much more assimilated into American life. How much pressure his older brother put on him to abandon American culture in favor of terrorism is something we'll find out about in the coming weeks and months.

Every person wants a sense of belonging. But post-modern America offers no sense of belonging into a greater culture. Each culture is relative.

There is no truth. The very idea of an essential Americanness is racist to many on the left. Left to their own devices, each person in a quest for culture will gravitate to the familiar, the comfortable, and that which elevates the soul with a sense of connection.
Some young blacks, Hispanics, Asians and others left out of society often join gangs to find their sense of community.

Many young evangelicals are more and more embracing a quasi-communal near hippy existence, as if reliving the first days of the church, with other young evangelicals intent on separating themselves from the world.

Young white rich kids are becoming trustafarians. That is, they live a nomadic life of near-poverty, traveling around the world, playing at being poor but all the while actually living off mom and dad’s financial largesse.

Then there are young Muslim men adrift in liberal, post-modern America. Their religion is not, contrary to the political correct, a religion of peace, but of submission.
Many of the Muslims who are most absorbed into their religion intend to fill the cultural vacuum left by the post-modern liberals of the West with Islam. We will all submit one way or the other. Compared to all other religions in the Twentieth and Twenty-first century, only Islam seems to generate people willing to kill for their religion.

If you do not believe me, announce on Twitter you intend to burn the Koran and see what happens. Remember, we are talking about a religion that, if the Obama White House is to be believed, went into international riots over a poorly produced You Tube video and an idiot pastor in Florida.

We have allowed, due to our liberal values and constitutional priorities on free exercise of religion, the one religion on earth that cannot, in its natural state, peacefully coexist with other religions, to migrate across the map.
Instead of pouring into Islam the western values of toleration for other ideas, values, and ways of life as Islam migrated, liberalism decided that not only would it be bigoted to do, we must not even dare confront it or treat it differently from religions that do not produce suicide bombers and international riots.

Now, in America, we have an untamed religion with calls for submission not tempered by the extra 600 years Christianity has had to temper, a liberalism that has left a cultural vacuum wherein many find themselves adrift looking to their own cultural connections to find their place in the world, and young Muslim men who, in that cultural vacuum, look not just to Islam, but an empowering Islam that can fill deep voids through demands for submission.
Boston is just the beginning.

TheBlaze Exclusive: Congressional sources confirm Saudi national was to be deported for security related grounds

The letter reads:

We are writing to request a classified briefing on Department of Homeland Security information and actions related to the case of the original person of interest in the terrorist attack at the Boston Marathon on Monday, April 22, 2013.
On Thursday, April 18th, you testified before the Committee on Homeland Security and responded to a question related to this individual’s immigration status by saying that you “were unaware of anyone being deported for national security concerns at all related to Boston.”  However, media reports have continued to raise concerns about this individual and adjustments that may have been made to his immigration status, including possible visa revocation and terrorist watch-listing, in the days following the bombing.
We request the Department provide a detailed overview of the records associated with this individual to include his law enforcement and immigration records prior to April 15, 2013, as well as his current status.  We request briefers from the Office of Intelligence and Analysis, Immigration and Customs Enforcement, and Customs and Border Protection.
We appreciate your immediate attention to this issue and anticipate your prompt reply.
The committee says it has copies of the original deportation order, and has confirmed to TheBlaze and several other media outlets that the facts are as we reported last week.

Glenn Beck will break more news about the story during his Monday radio and television broadcasts.

In the meantime pick up your phone and call your state senator ask if he is aware of this matter as Glenn Beck has asked for your help. Here is a list of all senators and their contact numbers.

Gun Control Vote Fails in Senate

With Vice President Joe Biden presiding over the Senate, an amendment to expand background checks on gun purchases failed to pass through the body, falling by a mostly partisan vote of 54-46.

Sixty votes were needed to pass the legislation through the Senate. Four Democrats voted no on the measure. All but four Republicans voted no.

With prospects already looking bleak, gun-control supporters lost two potential key votes earlier Wednesday, as Sens. Kelly Ayotte (R-N.H.) and Heidi Heitkamp (D-N.D.) said they would oppose the measure, which   was introduced by Sens. Pat Toomey (R-Pa.) and Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.).

In addition to Heitkamp, the other three Democrats voting against the measure were Sens. Mark Begich (D-Alaska), Max Baucus (D-Mont.), and Mark Pryor (D-Ark.).

Senate Rejects Expanded Background Checks For Gun Sales

A bipartisan compromise that would have expanded federal background checks for firearms purchases has been rejected by the Senate.

The defeat of the measure, which failed to get enough votes to avoid a filibuster, marks a major setback for gun-control advocates, many of whom had hoped that Congress would act to curb gun violence in the wake of December's Newtown elementary school massacre, where 20 students and six adults were killed.

The National Rifle Association fought the expansion of background checks, saying criminals would simply ignore them.

The expanded background checks were aimed at closing loopholes and keep criminals and the seriously mentally ill from getting firearms. Currently, the checks only apply to purchases handled by licensed firearms dealers.

In a last-ditch appeal on Wednesday, White House press secretary Jay Carney urged senators to "consider who they're representing," and pointed out that "Ninety percent of the American people support expanded background checks. If you are opposed to this legislation, you should obviously explain why you are against what 90 percent of the people are for."

But a recent Associated Press-GfK poll shows waning public support for tighter gun laws. According to the AP:

Overall "49 percent said gun laws should be made stricter while 38 percent said they should stay the same," according to the survey of 1,004 randomly chosen adults conducted from April 11-15.

Cuba's 'Ladies in White' to Pick up EU Prize 8 Years Later

Members of Cuba's Ladies in White opposition group will finally pick up Europe's top human rights prize from 2005 in person next week in Belgium, the European Union and the daughter of the group's former leader said Wednesday.

In a statement, the EU said several representatives of the Ladies will be awarded the Sakharov Prize in an April 23 ceremony at the European Parliament in Brussels.

"It will be an honor to go in representation of the Ladies in White and above all my mother, Laura Pollan," said Laura Labrada. Pollan, the group's co-founder and most prominent leader at the time, died in October 2011.

Labrada said she and Belkis Cantillo would leave Sunday and later meet up with Berta Soler, another co-founder of the Ladies, and Blankita Reyes.

The Ladies in White formed in 2003 to demand freedom for their loved ones, 75 government opponents who had been jailed that spring in a crackdown on dissidents.

They became known for their Sunday post-Mass marches down a leafy Havana boulevard, dressed all in white. All 75 prisoners have since been released.

The EU honored the Ladies eight years ago for their activism, but Havana denied them permission to travel to receive the Sakharov.

This January, President Raul Castro's government ended the much-detested exit visa that had been required of all Cuban travelers for decades.

Since then a number of dissidents have traveled overseas including noted blogger Yoani Sanchez, who has been on a tour of at least a dozen nations since February.

However other government opponents with pending legal cases against them have been denied passports.

Senator Marco Rubio

In 2009, Marco Rubio was an underdog candidate for the Republican Primary in Florida. Dismissed by the Washington establishment, he won because Americans from all walks of life supported him. His victory was part of a national movement of candidates all across the country who were elected to go to Washington, stand up to the direction that Barack Obama and the Democrats were taking the country, and to offer in its place a clear alternative. That’s why Marco Rubio started Reclaim America PAC, in the hopes of supporting candidates just like him all across the country that will go to Washington to make a real difference for America’s future.

All American flights grounded after computer malfunction

American Airlines has grounded its entire fleet until at least 4 p.m. Central as it works to fix a massive computer system outage already responsible for widespread flight delays.

The Fort Worth, Texas-based airline said on Twitter Tuesday afternoon that its system that handles reservations and bookings, Sabre, is offline. Passengers also took to Twitter to express frustration. Employees at American were responding personally to many of them. American first reported the outage around noon Central.
Flight tracking service FlightAware is showing delays of more than an hour at O'Hare. Delays earlier had averaged 2.5 hours.

American said it was working to repair the system but didn't estimate a time that it would be restored. A spokeswoman didn't elaborate.

American says it will offer refunds or make changes for free (instead of the usual $150) for passengers that were set to fly Tuesday. But it's not able to make changes to those reservations until the computer system is up and running. The airline was telling passengers on Twitter to call its reservation line at (800) 433-7300.

Reservation and bookings systems are an airline's backbone and little can be done when they're malfunctioning.

The outage has much the same effect for passengers as the problems United Airlines experienced through its combination with Continental.

American, operated by AMR Corp., is the nation's third-largest after United and Delta, carrying an about 275,000 passengers on 3,400 flights a day.
